Accra, March 21, GNA – Mr. Samson Deen, President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC)-Ghana who doubles as the Africa Paralympic Committee President has donated food items to Para Athletes in Accra to support them during the holy month of Ramadan.
Over 40 athletes received assorted items including bags of rice, beans, gari, oil, sugar, Sardine, tomatoes paste, and spaghetti.
Mr Ignatius Elletey, Special Advisor to the NPC President said the donations was to appreciate the Almighty God for how far he has brought the committee.
He said, “this donation is to show God’s appreciation for the life that He has given to us and how far He brought the Para family together.”
Madam Farida Yakubu, the President of the Para-Swimming Federation added that “we are in the special month of Ramadan and the midnight prayers begins today, it is a significant day for us and also the President, so he deems it a fit that both Muslims and Christians get the little donation to support themselves.”
Mr. Majeed Eldeen President of the Para-Powerlifted Association also thanked NPC-Ghana President for the support and appealed to other individuals to come to their aid.
He said, NPC-Ghana has been doing well and they hope more of these opportunities come to their aid.
“Our athletes are happy today for receiving the items from NPC-Ghana and I want to use this opportunity to thank the President for this opportunity he has given to the athletes.”
“We have a Georgina competition that we hope to attend and this current administration is doing very for us to go.”
Coach Raphael Bostyo Nkegbe, President of the GoGetDem Foundation said the donation would serve as a motivation to the athletes.
He said, “this is some of the motivation that we are looking for and it is in the right direction as some of our Muslims brothers are in the Ramadan season.”
“This initiative is something beautiful, encouraging and motivate the athletes to keep on doing whatever they are doing, I have been camping my athletes from January till date, feeding them myself, so this donation will boost my confidence.”
