Tamale, March 27, GNA – MTN Ghana, a telecommunications company, has presented food items and money to the Northern Regional Chief Imam and the Muslim Community in Tamale, as part of its support towards this year’s Sallah (Eid-ul-Fitr) celebrations.
The items included a ram, crates of soft drinks and water, cartons of tomato paste and cooking oil, bags of rice, as well as a cheque for GHc10,000.00.
Mr Collins Agyei, the Area Sales Manager for the five Northern Regions, MTN Ghana, who presented the items on behalf of MTN Ghana to the Muslim Community in Tamale, said the gesture was to show support and appreciation to the Muslim community for their support for the MTN business and the role they played in national unity.
Mr Agyei said the Muslim community in the Northern Region played a key role in MTN’s businesses, hence “This period of Ramadan offers MTN the opportunity to say thank you for their sustained support to the company and the role they play in promoting peace in our communities.”
He encouraged its customers to download the MTN Apps, especially the MoMo and MyMTN Apps respectively, to make their transactions faster.
He said “Today, we have gone beyond the stage where you must always be dialing *170# to be doing your transactions. So, we have the MoMo App, which can help you to do all your mobile money transactions at a very fast pace and with ease.
“Again, MyMTN App, offers you the opportunity to see all the things you are doing on your MTN service,” he said.
Ustaz Abdulai Habibu Mohammed, the Secretary to the Northern Regional Chief Imam, who received the items, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the gesture.
He said, “On behalf of the Regional Chief Imam and the Muslim community, we want to express our profound gratitude to MTN for always putting us in their minds for the past six years”.
He said the gesture had been an annual event, and the donation would go a long way to support those who would have found it difficult to celebrate the Sallah to do so with the very big push from MTN Ghana.
