Labour Minister swears in Government representative on National Labour Commission

Accra, March 18, GNA – Dr Rashid Pelpuo, the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, has sworn in Mr Antwi Boasiako Sekyere as the newly appointed Government representative to serve as a Member of the National Labour Commission.

He charged Mr Boasiako Sekyere to bring his experience and expertise to bear in resolving all labour issues in the country.

Dr Pelpuo stated that the Commission performed an important function in ensuring that labour disputes that emanated from the public and private sectors are quickly addressed and resolved thereby charging the member to bring his role to bear on labour related matters to promote a harmonious labour relations environment

On his part, Mr Ofosu Asamoah, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, thanked the Minister for the swift way he had attended to the nomination received from the Government and sworn the Member to start his work. He appealed to the Minister to ensure that the other representatives of the Commission and the other four regional representatives were also brought into augment the work.

Subsequently, the Minister directed that the Commission had now been properly constituted and must commence hearing of cases.

Following, the Minister directed the NLC to follow up on the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) strike and ensure that members resume work.

In attendance Awas Madam Gloria Bortelei Noi, the Acting Chief Director of the Ministry and Dr Bernice Welbeck, the Director of Administration and Human Resource Management.
