Kadjebi (O/R), March 26, GNA – Residents of Kadjebi in the Oti Region have welcomed the nomination of Dr. Sam Suraj Issaka, a Research Scientist with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission as the District Chief Executive (DCE).
Mr Joseph Kwadwo Ofori, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Akan Constituency in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said he was the right person for the post having been an Assemblyman before.
He told GNA that among the three shortlisted candidates for the post, Dr. Suraj stood tall among them.
“He knows the terrain and with support from us, he can deliver,” Mr. Ofori added.
Mr. Thompson Ofori, the Akan Constituency Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), told GNA that Dr. Suraj deserved the position as he had served the Party in various capacities and well experienced.
He said President John Dramani Mahama had made the right choice in nomination Dr. Suraj for the post, adding “he is my choice”.
Mr. Emmanuel Klu, Akan Constituency Director of Elections of the NDC, told GNA that Dr. Suraj was better fit for the job and that he was not surprised of his nomination.
Mr. Seth Frank Alifui, former DCE for Kadjebi, told GNA that Dr. Suraj’s choice was “a perfect one”.
‘We will support him to deliver to satisfaction”, he added.
A letter dated 26th March, 2025 with the caption “Nomination of District Chief Executives” and in line with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936) named DCEs for eight Regions.
The letter was signed by the Local Government Minister, Ahmed Ibrahim.
