Ho, March 29, 2025, GNA-The Ho Technical University has hosted a high-powered delegation from the Korea Association of Machinery Industry (KOAMI), as part of efforts to explore potential collaboration opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
Led by Mr Seth Mahu, Director for Renewable Energy and Green Transitions at the Ministry of Energy, the delegation met with the University’s management and Solar Technology Application Resource Centre (STAR-C) team to identify areas of mutual interest and potential partnership.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga, welcoming the delegation said the university was enthusiastic about leveraging KOAMI’s expertise and resources to enhance its renewable energy initiatives.
He noted that, as the host of the STAR-C, an initiative by the International Solar Alliance and the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, HTU was poised to champion Ghana’s renewable energy efforts through research, innovation, and training.
The potential areas of collaboration discussed include training programmes, research partnerships, and infrastructure development.
Mr Sungbae Park, a member of the International Development Cooperation team at KOAMI, expressed his organization’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s renewable energy goals.
“We are impressed by HTU’s initiatives in renewable energy and believe that our expertise in machinery and technology can complement those efforts. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration that will benefit both our organizations and the people of Ghana.”
On his part, Mr Mahu, Director for Renewable Energy and Green Transition, reaffirmed the sector Ministry’s dedication to advancing renewable energy development in Ghana.
He also expressed confidence in HTU’s ability to become a leader in renewable energy initiatives.
The delegation was later taken on a tour of the STAR-C facility on campus, gaining firsthand insight into the University’s capabilities and strengthening the prospects for a productive partnership between HTU and KOAMI.
