Hohoe (V/R), March 21, GNA – The Hohoe Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has organised a quiz competition for four Civic Education Clubs to commemorate the nation’s 68th Independence Day celebration activities.
The Participating Clubs are from the Musama, Sonrise, Newtown and Experimental Junior High Schools (JHSs) in the Municipality.
Mr Ernest Amedior, Hohoe Municipal Director, NCCE said the Constitution had created room for civic education to be used as important strategy and tool for creating an awareness of the main values of democratic governance, instilling the spirit of patriotism and enhancing citizens’ participation in governance.
He said the quiz formed part of the Commission’s strategies to get students to learn better the contents of the 1992 Constitution while having fun adding that the competition was held under the 2025 working theme for the Commission: “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility.”
Mr Amedior said the quiz would encourage the use of NCCE’s Ghana Constitution Game Board and create the opportunity to encourage students to join the Civic Education Clubs in their respective schools.
He said it was expected that at the end of the quiz, in-depth knowledge and understandings of the provisions of the Constitution would be enhanced among students at the participating schools while increasing the desire on the part of students at participating schools to join the Civic Education Clubs.
Newtown JHS Civic Education Club emerged as winners with 54 points, followed by Experimental JHS Civic Education Club with 45 points, Sonrise JHS Civic Education Club came third with 37 points and Musama JHS Civic Education Club, fourth with 24 points.
The contestants received notebooks, exercise books, pens and copies of the 1992 Constitutions as prizes.
