Kumasi, March 06, GNA – The renovated A4 and A5 wards of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, have officially been handed over to the management of the hospital for in-patient admission and care.
The wards, which are part of the ongoing ‘Heal Komfo Anokye’ project had undergone massive retooling with installation of state-of-the-art hospital equipment and facilities.
The renovated wards will have 32 patients occupying each of the five floors.
They were financed solely by Mr Justice Amoh, Chief Executive of the Justmoh Group of Companies, at the cost of $1.2 million.
Mr Fred Effah Yeboah, Director of Administration at KATH, speaking at the ceremony, indicated that the Hospital was one of the monumental investments of the country serving the middle sector and northern belts.
It was, therefore, important for expansion and development to provide quality healthcare delivery to people from 12 out of the 16 regions of the country.
He was overwhelmed with the tremendous transformation at the renovated wards.
“This is the first time these structures have seen renovation in 70 years.
Attempts to get these done over the years, have never materialized”, he revealed.
Mr Yeboah said staff and management always got depressed when caring for patients in dilapidated environments, describing the superior nature of this new environment as one, which would translate into successful outcomes for workers and patients.
He commended the team from Justmoh Construction Limited for the input, adding that, the team followed up to ensure these spaces were completed speedily.
Dr Thomas Konney, Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Directorate, indicated that the improvement at the facility was massive.
The Directorate, he said, was committed to owning the facility, maintaining high standards and quality patients care.

Mr Justice Amoh, CEO, Justmoh Group of Companies, asked that the facilities were maintained and the remaining units of the project completed on time.
He applauded Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, for initiating the project to engender quality healthcare delivery at the facility, which is the second largest referral health facility in the country.
