GPL Week 24: Kotoko maintains top spot as Hearts Oak loses at home to Dreams FC

By Simon Asare

Accra, March 16, GNA –  Asante Kotoko remained at the top of the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League table after a 1-1 draw with FC Samartex 1996.

FC Samartex took the lead through Awuah Dramani, but in-form Kotoko striker Kwame Poku equalised for his team to ensure the points were split.

As a consequence, Kotoko maintained their lead in the table with 38 points, one point ahead of Bibiani Gold Stars in second.

Hearts of Oak failed to close the gap on rivals Kotoko after losing 1-0 to Dreams FC at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Abdul Razak scored early in the first half to secure a significant win for Dreams, which lifted them four points clear of relegation zone.

For Hearts of Oak, the loss will certainly be a big blow to their title quest as they currently sit fourth with 36 points.

Aduana Stars recorded back-to-back wins as they defeated Bibiani Gold Stars 2-0 at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.

Kelvin Obeng”s first-half brace was enough to secure the points for the ‘Ogyaa Boys,’ who moved to 11th on the table with 37 points.

Legon Cities recorded their third victory in five matches after edging Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Mohammed Alidu and Kabu Raymond were on target for the “Royals,” while Stephen Amankona’s goal could only serve as a consolation for Berekum Chelsea.
