Nsuta (W/R), March 7, GNA – Ghana Manganese Company Limited (GMCL), has observed Ghana’s 68th Independence Day anniversary with a parade by school children within its catchment communities.
Pupils from primary, basic and cadet corps joined the parade with their teachers.
This year’s theme was, “Reflect, Reset, and Review.”
In an address, Mr Nicholas Blay-Ackah, the Nsuta Circuit Supervisor, paid tribute to those who laid their lives in the attainment of independence for the nation.
He said over the past years, the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly had rolled out initiatives to improve upon sanitation, education, and health infrastructure, asked if these efforts have been enough to reach everyone.
He said they would, review their strategies, engage communities in decision-making, and prioritize transparency.
For instance, our “Green Tarkwa” campaign to plant 10,000 trees this year would succeed if every citizen participated in the project.
“More importantly, let us review our unity as people. In Tarkwa-Nsuaem, we are miners, farmers, traders, and students, all bound by one destiny.”
He called on all to reject any division and champion solidarity, saying that “reviewing our progress ensures that we stay on track towards our national goals.”

Mr Ackah-Blay said they must evaluate policies, optimize resources, and demand accountability from their leaders and themselves.”
“As a Municipal Assembly, we are committed to enhancing local governance, improving public services, and fostering community participation in decision-making” He explained.
The Circuit Supervisor urged traditional leaders to guide their subjects in preserving their heritage.
“The youth: You are the architects of tomorrow. Innovate, but protect our values.
To all citizens: Let us revive the communal spirit of working together for the common good” he advised
He pointed out that “Our forebears did not fight for independence so we could complain. They fought so we could build. Let us honour them not with words, but with action”
The company hosted a football gala for select schools in its catchment communities and awarded a trophy to the winners, promoting sports development.
