Ghana Netball Federation, GES end four-day workshop in Ashanti Region

Accra, March.20, GNA – The Ghana Netball Federation, together with the Asante Akim South Ghana Education Service (GES) has ended a four-day netball training workshop dubbed “Project Bonolo netball training”.

The initiative, birthed by Mr. Mac Kofi Mawuli Quarshie, a Sports Development Officer with the National Sports Authority seeks to promote netball at the grassroot level while equipping teachers across the district with rules and regulation.

It also aims at boosting participation, improving the quality of coaching, and creating opportunities for young talents to thrive in the sport of netball.

Mr. Maxwell Agyemang, Asante Akim South Municipal Education Sports Coordinator in an interview with the GNA Sports said the project had come at the right time since preparations were underway to develop sports in the municipality.

He applauded organizers of the event for bringing the project to their doorsteps, which was a stepping stone towards unearthing young talents who would represent the nation years to come.

“The Asante Akim municipality has been embarking on oppressive sports sensitization workshops with the aim of equipping our sports teachers with the latest and relevant skills as we wait for our inter district,” he said.

He said the “Project Bonolo netball training” would aid the teachers to impact sports into students for maximum sports performance.

Rev. Emmanuel Djani Nikoi, President of the Ghana Netball Federation expressed excitement having been part of a project which he described as a game changer for the federation.

He said the project Bonolo netball training would go a long way to help unearth talents in the various regions for the nation.

He showered praises on Mr. Mac Kofi Mawuli Quarshie for putting resources together to begin this campaign, one which would yield positive results in the future.

Rev. Nikoi urged corporate bodies to come on board and support the Netball Federation of Ghana, who were on a developmental mission.

Project Bonolo is an initiative designed to take various forms of sports to underserved areas, ensuring that all districts, regardless of location, benefit from structured sports development. By focusing on netball, this program seeks to boost participation, improve the quality of coaching, and create opportunities for young talents to thrive in the sport.
