Ho (V/R), March 24, GNA – The Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, has announced that starting Wednesday, March 26, individuals can visit their respective National Identification Authority (NIA) District Offices to collect their Ghana Cards.

This comes after the receipt of 33,707 Ghana Card backlogs meant for 18 districts in the region, along with an additional 19,500 blank cards to facilitate new registrations.

The cards were officially presented to the Regional Minister by a delegation from the National Identification Authority (NIA), led by Mr. William A.E. Darlas, Acting Head of Corporate Affairs.

Speaking with the GNA, Mr. Gunu acknowledged the long-standing difficulties people in the region have faced in obtaining their Ghana Cards, which are essential for accessing key services like banking, SIM card registration, and social services.

“This is a major breakthrough in addressing those concerns,” he stated.

“I am committed to ensuring a seamless and transparent distribution process that will allow everyone to receive their cards without stress.”

To facilitate this, Mr. Gunu personally handed over the cards to the Regional Director of the NIA for distribution across the districts.

Recognizing the need for efficient and timely distribution, the Regional Minister has mobilized volunteers to assist the NIA in processing registrations. Additionally, he has provided his personal pickup vehicle to help transport the cards to the various district offices.

Furthermore, to ensure maximum public awareness, he has engaged the Information Services Department (ISD) to disseminate information, ensuring that all eligible individuals are aware of the collection dates and locations.

Mr. Gunu emphasised that this initiative aligns with the government’s ‘Resetting Agenda’, which aims to improve service delivery and ensure that government systems work efficiently for the benefit of all citizens.

“We are committed to making government services more accessible and reliable. This is just the beginning of many improvements to come,” he added.

He urged all eligible individuals to take advantage of this opportunity and visit their respective NIA District Offices starting March 26, 2025, to collect their Ghana Cards.
