Accra, Mar. 7, GNA-The Ghana Badminton Association in collaboration with Badminton World Federation (BWF) and the World Academy of Sport (WAoS), announced the launch of a transformative scholarship programme to hundred (100) young Ghanaian Athletes.
This initiative aimed at empowering dual-career athletes aged 15 to 18, to provide them an opportunity to develop new skills that would enhance their career prospects and contribute positively to their communities.
In a press release copied to the GNA Sport, the Association said this groundbreaking programme was designed to support young badminton players in Ghana.
It said, “through an online course, participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills that will complement their athletic pursuits, preparing them for success both on and off the court.
“This is the third year Ghana Badminton with its partners has awarded scholarships to over 200 Ghanaian Students in the last five years.”
It said, the Athlete Certificate was a combination of fun and creative online sessions that were designed to educate athletes to become successful and knowledgeable in their sporting careers.
It further stated that, “the online course is open to young athletes between 15 and 18 years old that will be completed within three months.
“On completion, they will also be eligible for a post-graduate certificate in International sports management from the University of London that will enable Ghanaian athletes to have a joint educational, elite sporting life and emerging sports technologies.”
