GAAM congratulates MDCE nominees for Western North Region

Sefwi-Wiawso (WN/R), March 27, GNA – The Western North branch of the Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM) has extended its congratulation to nine persons nominated by the President to become Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Western North Region. 

President John Dramani Mahama in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and section 20 (1) of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936), nominated nine persons to be MDCEs pending approval from respective Assemblies in the region. 

They include; Mr Dominic Gyasi, Wiawso Municipal, Mr Joseph Appiah, Akontombra District, Mr Francis Amankwaa, Bia East District, Mr Alex Adu Quist, Juaboso District, Mr Stephen Baidoo, Sefwi-Bodi District, and Mr Sebastian Obeng, Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal. 

The rest are Mr Stephen Morcher, for Aowin Municipal, Mr Vasco Obour, Suaman District, and Mr Annor Matthew for Bia West. 

A statement signed by Mr Frank Nelson Ackah, President for the Association, and copied to the Ghana News Agency said they were ready and committed to support the development of local governance across the country. 

“We as an Association believe in your ability to deliver on your mandates and a deep understanding of the needs of your respective districts,” it said. 

The statement urged the nominees to work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in them in the best interest of the nation. 

It said: “As the nominees prepare to take up their respective positions, we them to engage with the communities, listen to their concerns and work collaboratively to address the challenges facing the districts.” 

It also commended President Mahama for his leadership in the decentralization process, noting that the nominations of MMDCEs was a testament to his commitment to empowering local communities.
