Pusiga (UE/R), March 24, GNA – Four Junior High Schools (JHS) in the Pusiga District of the Upper East Region have taken part in a quiz competition testing their knowledge of the country’s 1992 Constitution.

Civic Education Clubs of Pusiga JHS ‘B’, Gbewah JHS, Pusiga Girls Model JHS, and Hidayatol JHS from the Pusiga Natenga Circuit were the participants.

It was organised by the Pusiga District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) as part of efforts to promote learning of the contents of the 1992 Constitution in an entertaining manner amongst students at the basic school level.

It also formed part of activities by the NCCE in the district to mark the country’s 68th Independence Day celebrations.

Mr Yakubu Seidu, Pusiga District Director of NCCE, speaking during the competition at Pusiga, encouraged members of CECs to make use of the NCCE’s Ghana Constitution Game Board to leverage the opportunity to encourage other students to join the CECs in their schools.

He said this would improve students’ knowledge and understanding of the provisions of the Constitution to guide them in their various activities.

At the end of the quiz, Gbewah JHS emerged as the winner, followed by the Pusiga Model JHS while Pusiga JHS B came third and Hidayatol JHS placing fourth.

The schools were awarded certificates, NCCE Constitution Game Board, copies of the Constitution, exercise books and pens.

Mr Apusiga Junaid, Patron, Gbewah JHS, who spoke on behalf of the participating schools, thanked the NCCE for the initiative appealing to the NCCE to extend it to other basic schools.
