Lolonya-Ada, March 17, GNA – Electrochem Ghana Limited (EGL), a subsidiary of the McDan Group, has partnered with Ecozoil Limited, a Jospong Group of Companies subsidiary, to clean the shores of Lolonya in the Ada West District.

The joint exercise, which took place over the weekend, brought together the management and workers of the company and community members to tidy up the shores in promoting a cleaner environment, particularly considering the recent cholera outbreak.

Naana Adiki Manyeyo Adi I, Head of Sustainability and Community Development at EGL, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the initiative was part of the company’s regular community clean-up efforts, with Ecozoil’s expertise in beach cleaning being a valuable addition.

Naana Adi said the collaborative effort reflected their shared commitment to environmental sustainability and preserving the coastal ecosystems.

She explained that as the company relied on seawater from the community’s shores for its operations, it was essential to promote good sanitation practices in the area.

She expressed concerns about the prevalence of open defecation along the coast and urged residents to adopt better sanitation habits, especially with the rainy season approaching.

“Together, we’re working to keep our communities clean and safe, as a cleaner environment means a healthier future for all,” she added.

Mr. Joseph Rockson Mawusour Ahuakese, assembly member for the Lolonyo area, commended the companies for the initiative and acknowledged the company’s ongoing support for the community.

He appealed to the management of the company to consider cleanup exercises initiated by the community to augment their efforts in keeping the shores clean.
