Accra, March 29, GNA—The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has urged road users to take personal responsibility for their safety and that of others to ensure a safe and incident-free Eid ul-Fitr celebration.
In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Saturday, the Authority advised drivers and motorcyclists to avoid overloading, speeding, dangerous driving, and reckless riding.
Pedestrians were also encouraged to use designated crossing points, such as zebra crossings and pedestrian footbridges, instead of jaywalking.
The NRSA noted that festive seasons were often marked by increased movement and activity on the roads, which heightened the risk of traffic crashes if safety precautions were ignored.
It extended warm congratulations to all Muslims in Ghana for their dedication and perseverance throughout the 30 days of fasting, acknowledging their commitment to spirituality, discipline, and compassion – values that also play a crucial role in road safety.
“As we approach the joyous occasion of Eid ul-Fitr, the Authority joins in the celebrations with prayers for peace, good health, and the right mindset to ensure safety during the festivities,” the statement read.
Reaffirming its commitment to road safety, the NRSA said it would continue working with stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, to create a safe environment during and after the celebrations.
The Authority wished all Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid ul-Fitr and urged them to celebrate responsibly.
