Effutu Methodist “B” JHS adjudged winners of NCCE quiz competition

Ekumfi Essarkyir (C/R), Mar 27, GNA – Madam Dinah Anderson, the Effutu Municipal Director of Education has called on students to join Civic Education Clubs in their respective schools.

She said this would help them to study the contents of the1992 Constitution, and other important virtues to become patriotic citizens in future.

Madam Anderson made the call at a quiz competition organised by the Effutu Directorate of the National Commission on Civic Education organised for selected Junior High Schools in Effutu Municipality hosted by the office at Winneba.

She commended the Commission for initiating such an educative programme showcasing the talents and competencies of the students at promoting civic education and democracy among Ghana’s youth.

She further said, teachers and other stakeholders had unique role to play at shaping the future of the youth, hence the need for them to contribute their quota in this direction.

The participating schools were Effutu Municipal Assembly Ansarudeen Islamic, St. John Anglican, Methodist “B”, and A.M.E Zion “D” Junior High Schools.

After a thrilling and competitive contest, Methodist “B” JHS emerged the winner and the contestants took home mathematical sets, exercise books, copies of the pocket size constitution, certificates of participation and a dustbin donated by Shape Attitude Ghana, a non-government organisation.

The second position went to St. John Anglican JHS which was awarded exercise books, copies of the pocket size constitution, certificates of participation and a dustbin.

The AME Zion “D” JHS placed third, Municipal Assembly JHS was fourth while Ansarudeen Islamic JHS placing fifth and they also took home exercise books, copies of the constitution and certificates of participation.

Mr. Amedenu Bosson, Effutu Director of the Commission, earlier stated that the competition was aimed at helping the students to understand and appreciate the constitution.

He stated that the exercise was also to foster healthy competition and teamwork among the contestants.

Mr Ofoli Berja, who represented the Central Regional Director of the Commission, urged the students to be responsible in all their endeavours, learn the constitution to be abreast with it alongside what the teachers taught them.

He expressed gratitude to the competitors for their commitment, cooperation and support for a successful programme.
