Edita Wilson pleads for Tema-West MCE nomination to facilitate development

By Laudia Sawer

Tema, March 28, GNA – Madam Edita Wilson, Tema West Municipal Chief Executive hopeful, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to nominate her as the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive to help facilitate development in the area.

Madam Wilson said the municipality faced many development challenges and therefore needed an MCE who would lead stakeholders to achieve the needed development.

Speaking to the media after providing residents with water at Sakumono, she said one of the greatest challenges residents faced was a lack of water supply for months now and bad roads, among others.

Residents of the area, especially within Tema Communities Two and Five, Sakumono and Lashibi, have been having severe water crises for some months now, a situation residents say is affecting their lives

She said even though she was yet to be named as the MCE, she had taken the initiative to help solve some of the challenges, noting that “I received a call from the assemblyman of the area about the dire water situation here, so from last week, I started to bring them tanker water.”

She said further: “I beg the President and the Vice to look at us. I want to receive the MCE position; with that, I will be able to provide the needed support to the people. I will look at the property rate for development.”

She said when nominated and given the nod, she would expand the property rate for the assembly to be able to gather enough internally generated funds (IGF) to embark on developmental projects.

Madam Wilson said apart water issues, bad road networks in the municipality, especially at Klagon and Adjei-Kojo, and a lack of streetlights on the beach road needed attention.

She said she was committed to collaborating with the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tema West to resolve these issues to improve the lives of residents.
