Tema, March 28, GNA – The Tema Collection of the Customs Division, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has, between January and March 12, 2025, collected GHC 7.9 billion in revenue.
Assistant Commissioner Theresa Potakey, Sector Commander for the Customs Tema Collection, disclosing this, said even though the command was awaiting its official revenue target for the year, it had already collected the amount.
Assistant Commissioner Potakey disclosed this during a staff durbar with the Commissioner General of the GRA, Mr. Anthony Sarpong.
The durbar provided an opportunity for the Commissioner General to gain first-hand insights into the working conditions of the officers and to motivate them.
She indicated that the figure as compared to the revenue collected during the same period last year, was more than 43.22 per cent, giving the assurance that they were committed to working tirelessly to achieve and exceed the command’s target.
She further stated that the Tema Collection in 2024 accounted for 82.09 percent of the Customs total revenue target, adding that it made a significant contribution to national revenue by collecting a total of GH¢36.86 billion, exceeding its target by 8.6 percent.
The Commissioner General of the GRA, on his part, assured Customs officers of improved working conditions to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.

“If we want to build a better and stronger authority, then people’s matters and people’s issues should be at the top of everything that we do. It is only when we make people’s matters number one that we can say we are building an institution. When we build a strong institution, then revenue will follow with all other things,” he stated.
