Domfete, (Bono), March 30, GNA – The Domfete Citizens Association in the Berekum West Municipality of the Bono Region has performed a groundbreaking ceremony for work to begin on the construction of an ultra-modern clinic for the community in the Domfete community.
That would greatly tackle the challenging healthcare service delivery and thereby improve the health condition of the people.
Speaking at a ceremony held at Domfete, Mr Joseph Amo, a member of the Association explained that the project was a collaborative initiative by the members, home and abroad, and thanked the chief of the area for releasing land for the project.
He highlighted the necessity of putting up the facility, saying on completion it would bring quality healthcare service delivery to the doorstep of the rural population.
Mr Amo said the community could not solely rely on the government for development projects, hence the need for the association to spearhead the development of the area and to address the challenges of the people who had to travel from Jinijini the Municipal capital to access healthcare services in Berekum.
Osabarima Kusi Yeboah II, the chief of Domfete welcomed the initiative and commended the association for its foresight towards addressing some of the pressing needs of the area and also thanked the government for constructing a three-unit classroom block in the area.
He said the construction of the clinic was a significant step towards improving healthcare services at Domfete and its adjoining communities, saying the people had lacked direct access to healthcare service for years.
