Bolgatanga, March 27, GNA – A new radio station dubbed “Blue Waves” has been established in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region with the mission of advancing community and national unity and development.
Established by a Retired Senior Police Officer and businessperson, Commissioner of Police (COP), Patrick Akolgo, the radio station will run on the frequency, 93.7mhz.
The new radio station is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment that would help deliver quality production and contribute to meeting the demands of modern media standards, particularly broadcast practices.
Apart from informing, educating, and entertaining the public through its tailored programming, the station seeks to facilitate community engagement with the aim to spark discussion for strengthening unity and accelerating development.
According to management of the station, the facility would be used as a critical tool to rally residents especially those from Upper East Region, residing in the country and the diaspora to undertake development initiatives towards the progress of the region.
Speaking at the inauguration of the station in Bolgatanga, COP Akolgo who is the Chief Executive Officer of the station, emphasized the significant role of the media in promoting participation in governance and ensuring accountability.
He said through the work of the media; communities would be empowered to undertake actions and participate in development and expressed the confidence that the station would help achieve the desired results.
The establishment of the radio station, COP Akolgo believed, was part of giving back to society, creating jobs, and rendering community service for the collective growth of the people.
Over the years, while in active service and running his businesses, COP Akolgo who is also the CEO of Blue-Sky Hotel, a hospitality facility in Bolgatanga East District, had undertaken several humanitarian services in health, education, and job creation.
Mr Albert Azongo, Consultant for the establishment of the facility, said the station was equipped with the necessary gadgets and equipment to serve the community better.
