Atomfourso (B/R) March 03, GNA – Ban on drumming, noisemaking and funeral celebrations has been imposed as the chiefs and people of Atomfourso, near Seikwa in the Tain District of the Bono Region, begin their annual Akyiriwia festival celebrations.
Accordingly, churches, organizers of public gatherings and functions are advised to take note and comply to ensure a smooth and incident free occasion.
The ban, which was in a press release signed by Nana Ekyie Nsowah-Adjei, the chief of the town, said the ban, an annual affair, started on Sunday March 02, after citing of the moon, and will end after another new moon is cited.
It said the entire community was culturally expected to observe the month long solemnly ritual, while the chiefs pray for the peace, economic prosperity, stability and progress for the community and Ghana in general.
The month of the celebrations always coincides with the Muslim Ramadan within which development programmes of the community are initiated with fundraising to prosecute them.
The release said this year’s festival would witness a moderate celebration because of the demise of the Ankobeahene of the town, Nana Ofori Amanfo, whose funeral celebration was still pending.
It said an appeal would be launched to look for funds to furnish the maternity ward of the CHIPS compound inaugurated about two months ago.
A massive fundraising activity would also be held to raise resources to support the health facility to respond to the people’s health demands.
The release extended gratitude to the people of the community for their usual cooperation and support and urged them to continue support the development of the community.
