Accra, March 25, GNA-Ayishatu Aminu, lead ambassador for the Captain One Golf Society’s kids project begun her 2025 golf season with an impressive performance after winning the 2025 Latex Foam Monthly Medal played at the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi.
The youngster, who ended last season with an overwhelming commendation from the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) as the 2024 SWAG Discovery of the Year proved her recognition with a boost for the season ahead.
She came top in the ladies’ category of the competition which had other senior golfers after playing a full course and returned with a gross score of 66 to carry the day.
Samira Abdullah and Vivian Dick came second and third with gross scores of 70 and 74 respectively.
Fadilatu Adam, another beneficiary of the Kids’ project wowed spectators after finishing fourth with a gross score of 74 while Jennifer Satura, also from the Captain One Kids project came sixth with a gross score of 85.
Zakia Hudu, also a beneficiary came eighth with a gross score of 90.
Mr Yaw Barima Okyere, head coach of the Captain One Golf Society’s kids project in Kumasi expressed mentioned excitement about the performance of the girls.
He said their target for the year was to keep the succession plan for Ayisha to make sure other girls with handicap also get to the top.
Ayishatu Aminu also thanked her coach for the training and ensuring she was always ready for competitions.
She expressed gratitude to SWAG for honouring her and added that she would be a worthy ambassador for the award as she looks forward to more of such to serve as a boost for the other girls and beneficiaries of the kids’ project in the other regions.
The Captain One Golf Society’s Kids Project focuses on nurturing young golf talents, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds, by providing free training and opportunities in communities near golf courses across Ghana.
