Kumasi, March 27, GNA – Mr Kwaku Asante-Boateng, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante-Akim South has donated bags of rice and gallons of cooking oil to Muslim communities across the constituency as the Holy month of Ramadan ends this weekend.

The donation is an annual gesture by the MP to support Muslims in the constituency to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr after their month-long fasting.

Imams of major Mosques in various zones in the constituency received the items on behalf of their congregations.

Mr Simon Agyeman, the Constituency Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in a brief presentation to the Juaso branch of the Ghana Muslim Mission on behalf of the MP, said the donation was in fulfilment of Mr Asante-Boateng’s annual support for the Muslim community.

He said 100 bags of rice were distributed to selected Mosques across the constituency at the behest of the MP, who acknowledged the Muslim community as an important segment of the area.

He said the MP cherished the contribution of Muslims to the development of the constituency and remained committed to working closely with them for the collective progress of Asante-Akim South.

Mr Osman Musah, a leading member of the Juaso branch of the Ghana Muslim Mission, who received the items on behalf of the Imam, paid a glowing tribute to Mr Asante-Boateng for his continuous support for Muslims.

He said beyond his annual supports during the Ramadan, the MP had also contributed immensely to the infrastructural needs of the Ghana Muslim’s Basic School.

He expressed his gratitude to the MP for his instrumental role in the construction of a new classroom block for the school, with another one at the foundation level.
