Tegbi, (V/R), March 17, GNA – The new District Health Director for Anloga, Madam Jemima Misonu Akporlu, has commended the remarkable progress in healthcare delivery and accessibility.

She, however, emphasised the need for urgent infrastructure upgrade to sustain these achievements and further improve service delivery.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency over the weekend, Madam Misonu highlighted key improvements, particularly in maternal and child health.

“My brief assessment and visits indicate that the District is performing exceptionally well, especially in maternal and child health. We have recorded increased antenatal visits and higher vaccination coverage rates. His shows more pregnant women are attending antenatal clinics, and immunisation coverage has improved, ensuring better health outcomes for children,” She stated.

Despite these successes, she noted that infrastructural challenges continued to hinder healthcare delivery, particularly in remote areas where facilities remain inadequate.

She, therefore, called for collective action from stakeholders and the community to bridge these gaps.

She also stressed the need for urgent interventions to improve Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, expand the Anloga Polyclinic, and provide adequate staff accommodation.

“Improving healthcare infrastructure is essential for delivering quality services. We must ensure that no community is left behind due to logistical and structural barriers,” she emphasised.

To address these challenges, she appealed for support from stakeholders, philanthropists, and non-governmental organizations, calling for contributions in resource mobilisation, medical supply donations, and technical assistance.

“Healthcare is a shared responsibility. Collaborative efforts will enable us to overcome existing challenges and provide equitable health services for all,” she urged.

She also reminded the public of the importance of preventive healthcare, stressing the need for regular check-ups and early detection of illnesses.

“We encourage everyone to take advantage of available services, including immunisation drives and health education programs. Early diagnosis and treatment can save lives,” she added.

The Anloga District was named the best Health service provider out of 18 Municipalities and Districts in the Volta Region in 2021, a success which requires significant infrastructure and service support to serve the over 25,000 people.

Madam Jemima Misonu Akporlu, the newly posted District Health Director, promised to champion increased quality service delivery, promote welfare for health staff in the District and infrastructural upliftments.

Madam Misonu concluded by expressing gratitude to individuals and organisations that had contributed to healthcare improvements in the district and called for sustained efforts to enhance service delivery.
