Anloga (VR), March 23, GNA – The Church of Pentecost, Anloga District, has taken a significant step towards promoting environmental cleanliness by organising a clean-up exercise at the Anloga main market.
The initiative, part of the Church’s 2025 environmental care campaign in the Volta Region, was to promote safe and clean environment to stem diseases.
Pastor Carlmax Obeng-Boadu, the Leader and District Pastor, who led the delegation in the exercise, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that it was important for the public to always keep the environment clean to promote and maintain a healthy environment.
“By taking this bold action to clean-up the market, the church is not only improving the aesthetic appeal of the area but also contributing to the overall health and well-being of the community, we all know the saying that goes, ‘cleanliness is next to godliness’, and the church is living up to this principle,” he said
Pastor Obeng-Boadu said that the exercise also served as an opportunity to educate the public on the importance of maintaining a clean environment and urged public to engage in similar exercises to keep their surroundings clean for a healthier and more sustainable environment.
He said that Anloga District’s clean-up exercise is a shining example of the church’s commitment to environmental sustainability and working together in unity, the church and the communities could create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for all.
“We supposed to hold this exercise on the 15th of this month but we deem it fit for today for all members to take part. This is a testament to the church’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and if we all change our negative attitudes towards the environment, Ghana would become a better place for us.”
He said aside from the clean-up exercise, the church also planned to undertake other environmental initiatives in the Anloga district with focus on promoting sustainable practices, reducing waste, and preserving natural resources.
He said the clean-up exercise also highlighted the importance of community involvement in maintaining a clean environment in promoting unity and togetherness which would help individuals to achieve far more than they could do alone.
Pastor Obeng-Boadu urged the public to support the church’s initiatives which serves as a call to action for everyone to get involved and make a positive impact on their surroundings and,” working together, we can create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for all.”
Some church members GNA interacted with during the exercise pledged their commitment to environmental care to inspire and serve as a model for other organisations and communities to follow.
