Accra, Mar. 09, GNA – The Business Class of 1995 of Adisadel College has presented a laptop to the school’s Best 2024 WASSCE Business Student at school’s 115th Speech and Prize-Giving Day.
The laptop was given to Master Ernest Domful, who scored 8As in last year’s West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The presentation was done by Mr Robert Eghan, a former Accounting Tutor of the school, in whose name and honour the laptop prize was instituted.
The prize dubbed ,“Mr Robert Eghan Package for the Best WASSCE Business Student” is in honour of the former tutor for his dedicated and professional service to this students.
The award package is in commemoration of the Business Class’ 30th anniversary celebration, and will be presented to the best Business student for the next three years.
Master Ernest Domful is currently a level 100 student at the University of Cape Coast, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce.
Master Domful expressed his appreciation to the Class for the gift, saying, it had come in handy as he needed a laptop for his studies on campus.
“I was planning to purchase a laptop for my studies on campus, so this had come at the right time of need for my stay here on campus,” he said.
Master Domful thanked his teachers and school authorities for their support and guidance during his time in school and advised his juniors to study hard and do well in their examinations.
Mr Joesph Mensah, Assistant Headmaster of Adisadel College, said the gesture by the group was laudable since “this was the first time a best WASSCE student was receiving a laptop prize.”
“This is motivating for Form Three students who are preparing for their examinations, especially the Business students. They would be encouraged to excel in their exams so that they receive next year’s prize,” he said.
Mr Ronard Acquah, a member of the Class, also a former Best Business Student, said their gesture was to recognise their former Accounting tutor for teaching and guiding them.
He said the award was also to motivate the students to study hard and excel in their WASSCE just as the award recipient.
Mr Acquah said the group was planning on setting up a Trust Fund to handle the award scheme in a long term after the three years.
Meanwhile, Mr Robert Eghan has expressed his appreciation to them for the honour done him, saying, “I felt very humbled and inspired by it.”
“I was doing my job for the love of my country. I was doing this in service to God and country, contributing my quota to their development,” he said.
Mr Robert Eghan taught at the Adisadel College from 1991-2015, until he was promoted by the Ghana Education Service to head Twifo Heman Senior High Technical School and Mankessim Senior High Technical School.
