Anfoega (V/R), Feb. 21, GNA – The Volta and Oti Regional Directorate of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has conducted an awareness programme for the staff and students of Anfoega Secondary School (ANFOESEC) in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.
The programme covered the Commission’s regulatory functions, consumer and service provider responsibilities, complaint policies and procedures and energy conservation tips.
Mr Philip Agbezudor, Volta/Oti Regional Director, PURC called on the participants to help protect utility infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on preventing bushfires around electricity poles.
He advised students to use utility services responsibly and educate their parents at home about their rights and responsibilities as consumers.
Mr Agbezudor also emphasised on the need for the citizenry to adhere strictly to outlined energy and water conservation tips.
He said the Commission remained committed to engaging stakeholders at all levels to ensure a balanced approach to consumer and service provider needs.
Mr Agbezudor said the Commission was elated about the enthusiasm of the staff and students through their active participation, adding that all complaints received would be resolved.

Reverend Divine Gborsi, Assistant Headmaster of the School on behalf of the principal and the school thanked the Commission for the awareness.
He said they would take the necessary steps toward responsible compliance and invite the Commission again soon.
Some souvenirs were given to some students, who answered questions satisfactorily after the programme, which forms part of the Commission’s “Catch them Young” campaign.
