Ho, Feb. 13, GNA- The Volta Fair has commended the Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, for his swift action in addressing the severe water crisis that hit Ho township and its environs.

The Fair gave the commendation when its delegation, led by Mr Dela Gadzanku, Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), in-charge of Eastern, Volta and Oti alongside key stakeholders in the private sector paid a courtesy call on the Minister.

The visit was to congratulate Mr Gunu on his appointment as the Volta Regional Minister and to discuss how they could work together to position the Volta Region as the most investable destination in Ghana.

Mr Gunu said the water situation was dire and needed prompt action to correct the defect in order to satisfy clients in the value-chain.

The Minister said the vision of the delegation aligned perfectly with  President John Dramami Mahama-led administration goals, including growth, investment, and sustainable development.

Mr Gunu expressed excitement when heard about the upcoming Volta Fair and its sister programme, Visit Volta, both happening this year.

The Minister said the initiative would not only showcase the beauty of the Region but also bring together businesses from Togo, Benin, Nigeria, and across Africa to explore opportunities in Volta.

“A special mention to Siddharth Mohi Nupoo, CEO of Spring Agro, whose 1,500-acre rice farm in Adidome is currently the biggest in the Country. His belief that Ghana has the potential to export rice is a vision we must collectively work towards.”

Mr Gunu said the President’s 24-hour economy policy would create the right environment for industries like Spring Agro to thrive thereby creating more jobs for the people of the Volta region and beyond.

He assured the delegation that his focus remained on three key areas- ensuring peace and security to make Volta the most stable region in Ghana and building the capacity of District Assemblies to enhance local governance in order to reduce dependency on central government.

The rest is collaborating with AGI, ministries, agencies, non-governmental organisations, and private sector partners to create more jobs and fully realise the President’s development vision for Volta.

“This year’s Volta Fair promises to be bigger and better,” the Minister said.
