Shama (WR) Feb. 26, GNA – Some residents, NDC party faithful and fishers in the Shama District have urged Madam Emelia Arthur, the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture to engage extensively before the constitution of any new Landing Beach Committee in the district.
The establishment of the Landing Beach Committee was critical to the livelihoods of fishers and thus any such decision be made through broad consultation with key stakeholders, including the Constituency Executives, to ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution of premix fuel and other resources.
Madam Emelia Arthur is also the MP for the Shama district.
The forming of Landing Beach Committee without the involvement of the Constituency Executives would be counterproductive, the group pleading anonymity told the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday.
The group had requested that the MP halted any unilateral move to form the Landing Beach Committee without proper consultations with key stakeholders including the hierarchy of the party in the district.
