By Alex Baah Boadi,

Sefwi-Sommakrom (WN/R), Feb. 19, GNA-Mr Peter Obeng Nyamekye, Headmaster of Sefwi-Wiawso Senior High Technical School, has appealed to corporate institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations to support the school with furniture to close the over 500 furniture deficits facing the school.

According to Mr Obeng Nyamekye, the lack of tables and chairs was negatively affecting teaching and learning in the school.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at his office on challenges facing the school, he mentioned inadequate classroom block and abandoned school blocks as a major challenge confronting the school which needed to be addressed by stakeholders.

The headmaster emphasized that the school population had increased over the years and would need more furniture and completion of abandoned structures to improve upon teaching and learning in the school.

“We are appealing to timber companies to help us with wood as our technical department is ready to make furniture out of them” he said.

He advised parents and guardians to pay regular visits to their wards in school to get first-hand information about their wards since many of them change and adopt bad social vices while in school.

He commended the teaching and non-teaching staff, especially the matron for their selfless dedication in improving teaching and learning in the school.

The headmaster however, expressed worry about truancy among some of the students and called on parents to help fight the canker.
