Accra, Feb. 27, GNA – Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur, Rex Owusu Marfo, popularly known as Rex Omar, has been appointed as the Presidential Staffer for the “Blackstar Experience.”
The “Blackstar Experience” is a key initiative under the government’s flagship programme for the tourism, arts, and culture sector.
The project is designed to redefine and promote the Ghanaian identity, attract investments, generate employment, and boost tourism.
It will feature a year-round celebration encompassing all major entertainment, artistic, cultural, and educational disciplines.
Known professionally as Rex Omar, Mr. Marfo is a renowned Ghanaian highlife musician who has also trained as a management professional, specializing in intellectual property rights.
He was elected Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) in March 2017 for a four-year term and has since been re-elected to serve a second term.
Mr. Marfo’s expertise and experience in the music industry have earned him several key positions, including serving as the former Vice President of the Copyright Society of Ghana and as a member of the 2013 Committee for National Intellectual Property and Policy Strategy.
Additionally, he has held the role of Head of Business and Finance at the Musicians Union of Ghana and is a member of the Copyright Society of Switzerland (SUISSA).
He is also under a publishing contract with EMI (Germany).
Mr. Marfo has also served as an advisor to President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on matters concerning the creative arts, culture, and entertainment industry.
He was also the party’s public spokesperson on issues related to this sector.
