Accra, Feb. 22, GNA – The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims that it has neglected its wounded police officer who was shot on December 7, 2024, at Atebubu in the Bono East Region when returning home after the general election.

Inspector Alfred N. Kuuzaa is currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

“The Ghana Police Service wishes to refute a social media publication alleging that the Service has neglected Police Inspector Alfred N. Kuuzaa, who is currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, after sustaining gunshot wounds from an attack while returning from the 7th December 2024 general elections at Atebubu in the Bono East Region,” a statement issued on Saturday said.

It said since the incident, the Police Service had taken all necessary steps to ensure the injured officer received the best of medical care.

“We have strictly followed all the instructions and directions of the attending medical team and our colleague has successfully undergone the required surgeries, all fully covered by the Police Administration under the Police Emergency Medical Intervention Fund (PERMIF),” the statement said.

“The Ashanti Regional Police Director of Welfare has been working closely with Police Inspector Kuuzaa’s family and the medical team, providing essential support and serving as the primary liaison between the Police Service and the family.”

It, therefore, wished to categorically state that the publication of neglect of their colleague officer was false and had asked the public to disregard and treat it with the contempt it deserved.

“We take this opportunity to wish our colleague a speedy recovery and salute all Police officers who continue to put their lives on the line to ensure that our country continues to be at peace with itself.”
