Sekondi (W/R), Feb. 11, GNA – Mr Joseph Nelson, the newly appointed Western Regional Minister, has encouraged staff at the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) and security chiefs to work hard for the good and welfare of the people.
He indicated that he would operate an open-door policy, and that there was the need for all stakeholders to collaborate and work together to bring the needed development to the Region.
Mr Nelson said this at his first meeting with the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), Heads of Department and staff of the WRCC at Sekondi.
He thanked staff for their support and believed that the goal of public service would be achieved through collaboration and hard work.
“The journey is long but, certainly it begins from today. I want to urge all of us to begin on a very good note, and happily holding our hands together, and I believe we will be able to achieve a lot for our people,” the Regional Minister added.

Commodore Emmanuel A. Kwafo, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, and Commander of the Two Garrison, congratulated Mr Nelson for assuming office and pledged REGSEC’s commitment to support him to achieve the development goals for the Region.

If there are issues happening, anytime, anywhere, we are ready to respond, so we wish you well and we know that with the renewed energy, and together with the collaboration of the other heads, victory will be ours,” Commodore Kwafo said.
Mr Stephen Quarshie, the Acting Regional Coordinating Director, the engagement was to build bridges and reinforce teamwork to spur growth in the region.
Mr Kirk Koufie, the Western Regional Director, Controller and Accountant General Department (CAGD), who spoke on behalf of other heads of departments, expressed their dedication and support to assist the new Minister to accomplish his vision.
He urged the Minister to carefully study the Local Government and Governance Acts of 2003 and 2016 respectively and the Public Financial Management Act of 2016 to win the trust of the service men and women.
