NIAMEY, Feb. 20 (Xinhua/GNA) — The new special representative of the European Union (EU) for the Sahel, Joao Cravinho, has said he aims to re-
establish a “good relationship” between the EU and Niger.
Niger and the EU “really have great opportunities for the future… we will have to work together, identify the different opportunities that are of
interest from all angles, whether for the Europeans or for the authorities of Niger,” he told the media Monday after a meeting in Niamey with Nigerien
Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine.
“It is clear to us that our desire is to turn the page, to have a strong and friendly relationship between Niger and the European Union,” said
Cravinho said.
Last November, Niger requested the recall of the then EU ambassador to Niamey, Savaldor Pinto da Franca.
