NDC communicators urge removal of Bono NHIA Director

By Benjamin Akoto

Sunyani, Feb. 21, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communicators in the Bono Region have called for the removal of Mr Joseph Mensah, the Bono Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

According to them, Mr Mensah’s removal from his position was necessitated due to some disparaging utterances he made about NDC’s proposed policy on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) during the 2024 electioneering.

Addressing a news conference in Sunyani, the communicators observed that being the first Vice Chair of the NPP in the Bono Region, Mr Mensah’s continuance in office, as the Regional Director would not be good.

Mr Daniel Lartey, a Deputy Youth Organizer of the NDC in the Sunyani West Constituency and spokesperson for the communicators said, “disparaging utterances made by Mr Mensah implies that voting for President John Dramani Mahama would collapse the NHIS”.

“So, we don’t understand why such a political detractor should continue to head the NHIA in the region in the execution of our reset agenda,” he stated.

Mr Lartey expressed concern about the deteriorating condition of some vehicles of the regional office of the NHIA as well as the alleged misuse of official vehicles by Mr Mensah and other NHIS District Managers.

He therefore called on Dr Victor Bampoe, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA to expedite action for the removal of Mr Mensah from office and probe him too.
