Berekum, (Bono), Feb. 26, GNA – Mr George Yennukon, the Berekum Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Bono Region has advised the public to contribute to the fight against corruption.
He said with the Whistle blowers and the Right to Information Acts in place, everybody could gather evidence and report corrupt public officials to either the Office of the Special Prosecutor or the Economic and Organised Crime Office.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Berekum, Mr Yennukon emphasised that corruption remained the bane of the nation’s socio-economic growth and development, saying until the menace was brought under control, Ghana would continue struggling in her development process.
He said fighting the increasing trend of corruption in the country required collective responsibility, calling on everybody to support the government in that direction.
Mr Yennukon said people could also report perceived cases of corruption to their Members of Parliament (MP) or Municipal and District Assemblies and local authorities including unit area councils and committees.
He urged everybody to play an active role in shaping the nation, saying the, “I don’t care attitude” of some Ghanaians would only thwart development efforts and overburden the government in her bid towards building a better society and Ghana for all.
