Kumawu MP rewards hard working teachers

Kumawu (Ash), Feb. 18, GNA – Mr Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu, has pledged his continued support and commitment to the improvement of quality education delivery in the constituency.

He said he would collaborate with all key stakeholders to design and implement appropriate measures that would enhance teaching and learning, while improving the welfare of teachers and other educational workers in the area.

Mr Anim was speaking at a ceremony he organized to reward hard working teachers and non-teaching staff in educational institutions in the constituency, at Kumawu.

Ten outstanding teachers, who had demonstrated great commitment and dedication to their duties in the various communities in the constituency were awarded.

They received motorbikes, refrigerators, television sets, clothes, DSTV and cash prizes.

Sixty others were also recognized with certificates.

The award was to celebrate the hard work, dedication and sacrifices of teachers who had committed themselves to teaching pupils, especially in remote communities in the area.

Mr Anim pointed out that education was his number one priority and would want to leave the legacy of many engineers, lawyers, doctors, accountants, and other great professionals in every home in the constituency.

That was why he had initiated and implemented several strategies to address logistical and other challenges to help improve teaching and learning environment in the area.

He had provided reading materials, computers and other essential teaching and learning materials to schools.

Mr Anim said he had also introduced mentorship programme for senior high students to aid in their career choices at the tertiary levels, adding that, similar programme would be introduced at the JHS level to help pupils to select appropriate courses at the senior high school levels.

He said he was planning to provide every junior high school in the area with laptops to help improve the teaching of ICT in schools.

He called on all stakeholders to support efforts to uplift education since it was the cornerstone of development in society.

Mr Kwame Oduro Owusu, the District Director of Education, commended the MP for his continued support to educational improvement in the area, adding that, it demonstrated the commitment of the MP to ensure that many people were enlightened to be able to contribute to the development of the area.
