Kpone, Feb. 28, GNA – The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate has held its 2024 annual performance review highlighting achievements, challenges, and strategies for improving healthcare delivery in the municipality.

Dr. Esther Priscilla Biamah Danquah, the Municipal Director of Health Services, commended health workers for their dedication and resilience in providing quality healthcare services despite resource constraints.

Dr. Danquah noted that the review was crucial in assessing progress and identifying areas requiring urgent attention.

She stated that the health sector in Kpone-Katamanso has seen significant improvements in maternal and child healthcare, disease surveillance, and immunisation coverage, adding, however, that the directorate still faces challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, staff shortages, and limited logistics.

She also emphasised the importance of using accurate data in health service delivery, stressing that reliable information was key to making informed decisions, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.

The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Health Director stressed the importance of continuous training for healthcare workers and the need for improved public health education to promote preventive healthcare practices within the municipality.

Dr. Seth Dortey Amanquah, Chairman for the Kpone-Katamanso Health Committee, chairing the performance review, urged health workers to deliver services with passion and commitment.

He highlighted that beyond technical expertise, a strong dedication to patient care was essential in strengthening the healthcare system.

“The community relies on health professionals not just for treatment but also for compassion and dedication. We must remain committed to our duties and ensure that every patient receives the best possible care,” Dr. Amanquah stated.

Mr. Mohammed Ali Amadu, Kpone Katamanso Municipal Coordinating Director, expressed gratitude to the health workers and assured them of the municipal assembly’s support once the Municipal Chief Executive comes into office.

He said the Municipal Assembly has plans to uplift health delivery services within the municipality.

The review meeting was attended by municipal health officials, representatives from the Ghana Health Service, traditional leaders, assembly members, and civil society organisations.

Participants discussed strategies to improve primary healthcare access, reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, and strengthen community health initiatives.

The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring quality healthcare services for all residents and pledged to work closely with stakeholders to overcome the sector’s challenges.

The programme was also used to award some deserving health workers and facilities within the Kpone-Katamanso municipality for their commitment to health service delivery under the year in review.
