Assin Nsueam (C/R), Feb. 28, GNA – Some residents in the Assin South District have expressed mixed reactions on the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

The Ghana News Agency sampled the views of some residents of Assin South on it, with Mr Solomon Afful, a teacher, saying, he was impressed by the President’s address on restoring fiscal discipline, as well as measures for debt sustainability.

The teacher said he was hopeful that the government would reduce the debt burden of the country and promote economic growth that would translate into better living standards for all Ghanaians.

Mrs Efua Nyamekye, a market woman, said the President’s address was reassuring but more action needed to be taken to ease the financial burden on families.

She said, she struggled to make ends meet due to the high inflation and unstable prices and expressed the hope that the government would implement policies that would stabilise the economy and make life easier for the ordinary Ghanaian.

Mr Kwame Nimo, a mechanic, said he was pleased that the President mentioned plans to promote local industries and support small businesses.

He observed that accessing loans was very difficult, making the growth of businesses slow and difficult.

In that vein, he urged the government to support small scale businesses and venture into initiatives that would help create jobs and stimulate economic growth in their communities.
