Gbi-Wegbe (V/R), Feb. 28, GNA – Residents of Gbi-Wegbe in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region have benefited from a ‘PURC in Communities’ initiative aimed at educating residents on operations and issues-related to the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).
The engagement was by the Volta Regional Directorate of PURC Public in collaboration with the Hohoe District Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Water Limited (GWL).
Me Emmanuel Foli, the Volta Regional Public Relations Officer of PURC, educated residents on the Commission’s functions, complaint procedures and consumer rights and responsibilities.

Mr. Sylvanus Awatror, Hohoe Municipal Manager of GWL Hohoe, addressed the recent water shortages in the Municipality, assuring the community that efforts were underway to improve supply.
Mr. Godwin Gone, Municipal Manager of ECG Hohoe, discussed operational challenges, including voltage fluctuations and assured residents that measures were being taken to resolve them.
The Company further provided insights into billing and meter acquisition processes and the effects of bushfires on electricity supply.
Mr Emilson Andy Agbi, Assemblyman for Gbi-Wegbe Electoral Area, expressed gratitude to the Commission and utility providers for the engagement.
He pledged to extend similar educational sessions to other areas within his jurisdiction.
