Gallery: 28th Feb Crossroads Shooting commemoration

Accra, Feb 28, GNA – The 77th anniversary of the Christiansborg Crossroads Shooting incident was marked with a solemn ceremony at the 28th February Cenotaph, Osu, Accra.

The event commemorates the unfortunate event where three unarmed ex-servicemen; Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe, and Private Odartey Lamptey were killed during a peaceful protest in 1948.

The ceremony included a flag-raising, and a wreath-laying ceremony to honour and remember the sacrifices of the fallen heroes.

Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, who was the special guest of honour, laid a wreath on behalf of the government and people of Ghana.

Present at the ceremony were Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister of Defence, and Mr Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the Minister of the Interior.

Others notable personalities included the military top brass, heads of the security services, traditional leaders, and school children.

The 28th February Crossroads Shooting commemoration forms part of activities leading up to Ghana’s Independence Day celebrations on March 6.


A group led by veteran Actor, Abeiku Sagoe, enacted a play to recount the 28th February event.
