Dambai (O/R) Feb11, GNA – Eighteen delegates have gathered at Dambai to elect the Oti Region’s representative to the Council of State with seven aspirants vying for the position to represent the region’s interests at the national level.
The seven contestants include Mr. Mohammed Haris, Mr. Joseph Akpabi Quarshie, Nana Kofi Ollator, Mr. Nicholas Kwame Fato, Mr. Richard Kings Atikpo, Mr. Maxwell Qouphy Blagodzi, and Mr. Calvin Yaw Klabi
The election is a significant step in ensuring the region’s voice is heard in national decision-making and the Council of State plays a vital advisory role to the President, comprising representatives from each region in Ghana.
The electoral college consists of two representatives from each of the districts in the region, nominated by the District Assemblies.
The Oti Region, created in 2019, has been making strides in development, with initiatives in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, the newly elected representative will play a crucial role in championing the region’s interests and contributing to national development.
The outcome of the election is eagerly anticipated, as the region looks forward to a representative who will advocate for its needs and aspirations.
A heavy security presence has been deployed at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC), where the election is being held.
This heightened security measure is likely a precautionary move to prevent any disturbances or violence during the electoral process.
