Kadjebi (O/R), Feb 24, GNA – The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) protest the appointment of Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway, as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry, is continuing in the Kadjebi District as offices remained closed to the public.
The Ghana News Agency’s (GNA) visit to the District’s Birthdays and Deaths Registry office, Environment Health Directorate, Planning, Budget, Finance Office, among others saw these Offices closed with no staff present.
When the GNA contacted Mr. Emmanuel Doe, Kadjebi District Chairperson of CLOGSAG on the issue, he said they are waiting for a directive from the National Office of the Association on the strike action.
Some CLOGSAG members, who spoke to the GNA anonymously, shared divergent views on the protest.
While some said the government appoint from within to head such sensitive positions, others were of the view the Association should not interfere with such appointments.
CLOGSAG NEC meeting on Saturday, February 22, unanimously decided to maintain the strike, citing the absence of a clear roadmap to resolve the matter.
“After deliberating on the request, the NEC was unanimous on the following: that the strike should continue; that the request by Mr. Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo, lacks a roadmap for the resolution of the matter”, Mr. Isaac Bampo Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, said.
CLOGSAG on Thursday, February 20, 2025, declared a nationwide strike action against the appointment Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway, Registrar of the Birthdays and Deaths Registry.
