Chiefs, people of Nkasiem appeal for tertiary institution

By Augustine Agyapong

Nkasiem, (Ahafo), Feb. 20, GNA – The chiefs and people of Nkasiem, a mining town in the Ahafo Region, have appealed for a tertiary institution to promote education in the area.

Nana Kwaku Duah, the Akwamuhene (sub-chief) of the Nkasiem Traditional Area made the appeal when Madam Charity Gardener, the Ahafo Regional Minister paid a courtesy on the Nkasiem Traditional Council.

He indicated the area required the tertiary institution to meet the growing population growth and afforded students the opportunity to access tertiary education.

Nana Duah expressed worry that Senior High School (SHS) graduates and their parents and wards ought to spend much and travel distances and to gain admission to either university or related tertiary institutions.

That, the chief added, was putting a huge financial burden on parents, saying a tertiary institution in the Nkasiem Township would also inspire students to learn hard, pass their examination well and easily gain access.

“A tertiary institution in the town will shorten the long distances students travelled from Nkasiem to elsewhere to access university education,” Nana Duah stated.

Responding to the appeal, Mad Gardener assured the people that she would channel the appeal to the appropriate quarters, saying the President John Dramani Mahama government was determined to tackle the immediate development needs of the people.
