Oly Sports Consult organises first Triathlon event at Adzido

Adzido (VR), Jan.9, GNA – Oly Sports Consult, a scout and sports promotion group in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, has successfully hosted the first triathlon event at Adzido to unearth talents in the area.

The event, which brought together athletes from the Greater Accra Region, Volta, and beyond, was highly contested with challenging and thrilling competition.

Mr Felix Apedo Olele, Chief Executive Officer of Oly Sports Consult, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said that nine athlete teams participated in the historic event, aimed at promoting talents in sports.

“We are thrilled to have successfully hosted the first edition of the triathlon in Adzido and our main goal is to identify and nurture young talents in the region and beyond and provide them with a platform to showcase their skills,” he said.

He said the triathlon consisted of three sporting events, which included swimming, biking, and running, respectively, whilst all athletes demonstrated their endurance and versatility and transitioned from one event to the next.

Mr Apedo pledged to continue promoting sports development in the region and to host more events in the future to unearth and nurture young talents for local and national events.

“Let me use this opportunity to thank and express my gratitude to Trinity Phones Company Limited, a phone and laptop repairing shop at Keta, for being the headline sponsor of the first edition of this historic triathlon event which was highly prioritised by fans and supporters.”

He said registration for the event was free and appealed to philanthropists, companies, and individuals to sponsor the subsequent events to promote more youth in sports.

Mr Bawa Fuseini, President of the Ghana Athletes, who chaired the occasion, expressed satisfaction with the event and applauded Mr. Felix Apedo and other executives for organising the historic event to promote the sports.

He pledged that the GA would continue to support future sporting events in the area that would unearth and promote the progress of youth.

GNA understands that Oly Sports Consult is planning to host the second edition of the triathlon in the area during the upcoming Easter festivities in April.

The event was highly attended by many dignitaries, sports enthusiasts, and supporters who cheered their various teams of athletes throughout the competition.

Medals and cash prizes were awarded to all athletes who participated in the event.
