Sunyani, (Bono) Jan. 1, GNA – The Reverend Father Albert Kyei Danso, the Chaplain of the Holy Family Ghanaian Catholic Community Church in Pordenone, Italy, has advised Ghanaians to spend wisely in the New Year.

He said huge expenses on frivolous and other social activities would only contribute to financial stress.

He instead, urged the people to channel their resources into viable businesses and entrepreneurship.

“Let’s refrain from unnecessary spending and extravagant lifestyles to build a future for ourselves in the New Year,” Rev Fr Danso said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) as part of his New Year Message to Ghanaians.

“Huge sums of monies are being thrown away on frivolous activities in the name of socialization,” he noted, and urged the public to be mindful about what they used their monies for.

Rev Fr Danso indicated that unnecessary spending on credit airtime, internet data, social media views, costly electronic materials and clothing would only worsened the financial condition of the people.

“We can save little by little and buy even a plot of land to begin something for ourselves in the New Year,” he stated, advising that “we should not make our lives like a seaman driving a ship without a compass.”

Rev Fr Danso urged the youth to remain hard working, and diligent and have a clear vision for their lives and also rely and trust in God for life success, saying, “2025 may come with many blessings, without vision, proper planning, determination and perseverance, we will still lack.

“The youth must be adventurous and ready to take risk in life too,” he stated, and asked them to remain visionary, hardworking, and be passionate about their life careers.

He said the youth should endeavour to build networks and the required ‘social capital’ that would position them well to build something worthy for themselves, and cautioned them about the choices of friends and relationship they build in the year.
