NDC Teachers’ Pro-forum Congratulates Prof. Ernest Davis as GES DG

Accra, Jan 30, GNA – The Teachers’ Pro-forum of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated Professor Ernest Kofi Davis on his appointment as the new Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES). 

Prof. Davis, who was the Provost of the College of Education Studies at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), succeeds Dr Eric Nkansah whose term was terminated by the new government. 

The Pro-forum, in a statement signed and issued by Chief Nachinaab Peter Nayinbil, National Coordinator, stated that Prof. Davis had assumed his new role with a solid academic and professional education background. 

“We receive your appointment to the high office of Director-General of Ghana Education Service with immense gratitude, highest expectations, and expectant potential immeasurable opportunities.  

“You assumed this position with a solid academic and professional education background, peculiar personal attributes, demeanour, ethics, and drive that can be said to be impeccable, admirable and desirable of a person for that function,” the statement said.  

The statement explained that having experienced the much-discussed previous educational system for his pre-tertiary education, Prof. Davis had chosen and been drawn to the field of education for his university studies. 

It further noted that, as proof of his unwavering commitment to education, Prof. Davis had remained dedicated to this discipline throughout all phases of his education, ultimately reaching the pinnacle of his field. 

“Your clear career path is further evidence of your love for the discipline of education,” it said adding that experiences, exploits, and leadership in education are sustained, impeccable and pronounced.” 

“All these are testament to your focused adherence to your choicest and longstanding academic field and profession.  

“The exemplary nature of your trajectory cannot be lost on anybody including professionals in your field and aspirants to careers including the field of education. You exude vision, decisiveness, drive, excellence, precision, focus, calmness, determination, fortitude, energy, and dexterity, par excellence,” the statement said.  

The statement said that, with approximately twenty-five (25) years of teaching experience and educational exposure in both the Ghanaian context and internationally renowned settings such as Japan and Australia, Prof. Davis’ training, expertise, and worldview were well-grounded.  

It emphasized that his background positioned him to effectively lead the agenda of resetting pre-tertiary education in Ghana, contributing to the shared vision, development, and well-being of Ghanaian society. 

“We welcome you with the warmth of hands and heart and spirit to this new all-important portfolio.  

“We share with you the mutual responsibility and challenges in the execution of this new and central function, since we have together been indispensable practitioners and stakeholders in the sector and field of education,” the statement assured.  

“Our anticipation and resolve of unending and closest collaboration aimed at resetting the education sector, addressing all deep-seated challenges, and tailoring education to meet the peculiar sociocultural needs and dynamics of Ghana both presently and in the future crucially bearing in mind our uniqueness as a nation Ghana and, also, the context of our inter-connection with the world community has no bounds.  

“The issues of the needs and aspirations of teachers and learners remain a front-burner concern and priority. We expect and request extensive consultative and comprehensive collaboration to the highest degree and intensity,” it added.
