Nkroful (W/R), Jan. 12, GNA — Nana Kwasi Kutua V, the Chief of Nkroful in the Ellembele District of the Western Region, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to fulfill his promise of building a Hospital for the District.
He noted that aside from the St. Martin De Porres Hospital at Eikwe, Ellembelle could not boast of a befitting hospital to cater for the healthcare needs of the people.
President Mahama made a promise to build an ultra-modern District Hospital at Nkroful when he joined the Chiefs and people of Ellembelle to celebrate the Nkrumah Festival (NkrumahFest) in September 2024.
The promise followed a request by the Nana Kutua V to release a land for the construction of the health facility.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, the Chief said the population of Ellembelle had increased in the last decade, especially due to discovery of oil in the district.
Nana Kutua V said facilities at the St. Martin De Porres Hospital built by the Catholic Church at Eikwe several decades ago could not admit the daily intake of patients.
He made a very strong case for an ultra-modern District Hospital at Nkroful to deal with emergency situations from oil and gas explorations as well as mining activities in the District.
The Nkroful Chief also noted that the District Hospital at Nkroful would glorify Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah as first President of Ghana.
Nana Kutua V said land for the Hospital was available and that they were waiting for President Mahama to settle down so he could redeem his promise to the people.
