Accra, Jan 3, GNA – A number of young single mothers in Ada-Gorm and neighbouring communities in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region have received equipment and financial support to kickstart their entrepreneurial journeys.

Meaningful Life International, (MLI) a humanitarian organisation  handed over sewing machines, hair dryers, soap making kits to 15 young ladies to empower them after they have even trained.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Reverend Dr. Godwin Ahlijah, the President of MLI, commended the beneficiaries for embracing the economic empowerment programme.

He emphasised the significance of empowering women, particularly single mothers, who often bear the sole responsibility for raising their children under challenging circumstances.

“This initiative is not just about putting smiles on the faces of these single mothers but also equipping them to become economically empowered”

“It is about giving them the tools and skills they need to support their families and break the cycle of poverty,” he said.

The President of MLI said many single mothers faced significant challenges, including providing for their children and ensuring they received education, affirming MLI’s commitment to following up on the progress of the beneficiaries.

“These young ladies will not be left to their fate. We will monitor their training and provide additional support where needed. This is a journey towards independence, and we are with them every step of the way,” he added.

Beyond the skills training, MLI engaged the Ada-Gorm community in a variety of activities to mark the festive season.

The organisation shared the word of God, distributed Christmas gifts to widows, and organised recreational games, including tug of war, sack races, ludo, and musical chairs.

Participants and winners of the competitions were rewarded with prizes, creating a festive atmosphere filled with joy and camaraderie.

Mary Dzidzor, a beneficiary of the programme, expressed her gratitude to MLI for what she described as a life-changing opportunity.

“With the skills gained, I can start my own business and take care of my family without relying on others,” she said
